Thomas Scattergood (1748-1814), Quaker minister, was the son of Joseph and Rebecca (Watson) Scattergood of Burlington, New Jersey. In 1772, he married Elizabeth Bacon (d. 1780), and in 1783, married Sarah Hoskins (1751-1832). Edward Hicks (April 4, 1780 – August 23, 1849) was an American folk painter and distinguished religious minister of the Society of Friends (aka "Quakers").
